What To Do When the Heat Goes Out03/08/2017Call it Murphy’s Law, or maybe just a little misfortune, but we sometimes see heat pump troubles in Phoenix during the cooler months, when they’re necessary to keep you toasty. While you know the team at Dial One Mears Air Conditioning & Heating Inc will always be there ASAP when you need us for a heat pump repair, there are some things you can do to confirm that a repair is necessary and save yourself some expenses if it’s not. We’ve collected this checklist of things to attempt before you give us a call. It may sound silly, but make sure everything is turned “on”. We’ve been to several calls only to realize the thermostat or the heat pump itself is turned off. Check your thermostat to guarantee it’s on, fixed to the proper temperature and isn’t set to cool. Then try swapping out the battery, if it has one. If everything looks correct, check your furnace switch (check your manual if you’re not sure where it is) and check your fuses and circuit breaker. Confirm that your gas is on. If the furnace still hasn’t switched on, revisit your thermostat. If it’s a programmable model, make certain that it’s revealing the correct time. If it thinks it’s morning when it’s in fact night, it may not kick your heat on because it doesn’t understand that you’re home. Is a blockage causing your furnace to not work? Examine your air filters to confirm they’re not jamming things up. Do you have any blocked ducts, vents or cool air openings? Are all supply registers exposed? Is your exhaust flue clear? If you’ve moved through this checklist and you’re still without heat, call Dial One Mears Air Conditioning & Heating Inc at 602-997-5701 or schedule an appointment online and we’ll get your home back to the toasty and cozy place it should be.
